As we enter the busy Christmas fixture period and with a string of indifferent results behind us how many Blues actually think Pep Guardiola is the best thing since sliced bread?

When we go back to a flat-back four we seem to return to winning ways and yet when Pep mucks about with a back three City end up at sixes and sevens.

Current playing squad

Our defensive line-up, at times look tired, confused and dare I say it, aging (no breaking news with those words I suspect). Having said that Chelsea play with three in defence and look at them – numerous clean sheets, top of the Premier League table and seven points clear of us.

The answer has to be within our current playing squad and their inability to cope with Pep’s demands. I mean we all know he loves three in front of his keeper and it worked for Mr G when he was at Barcelona and Bayern Munich – didn’t it?

Positive Pep

When I look at our previous 17 PL games I have to admit it’s not all doom and gloom. We are dominating just about every single match we play and with a little sprinkle of ‘lady luck’ I have no doubt it would be City sat snuggly at the top rather than those London lot.

Pep made it clear from the first moment he took over from Manuel Pellegrini – he knew he was about to inherit a squad which was aging and that it would take a couple of seasons until he managed to acquire the players HE wanted. We know he brought in a shed-full of newbies in the summer, albeit a couple went straight away on loan. He disposed of others and now we wait to see what Pep and his magical wand can do, if anything during the pending January transfer window.

No one is perfect but in your opinion is Pep Guardiola the best thing since sliced bread?
