Steven Jovetic has been viewed as a ‘makeweight’ for a couple of deals City could be looking to pull off this summer but with Liverpool reportedly ‘closing in’ on him could this signal Raheem Sterling’s arrival?

In separate reports it’s claimed that Liverpool are looking to snap up the 25-year-old for £16m whereas we’ll complete the signing of Sterling for a fee of £45m any time now….if there’s truth to this then it’s clearly a cash plus player deal isn’t it.

Liverpool have previously said that they wouldn’t accept anything less than £50m but after rumoured bids of £30m and £40m were rejected £45m probably would be enough to bring him to the Etihad Stadium, my own viewpoint is that this amount really should be the absolute maximum offer….

Jovetic looks destined to move on this summer as despite claims to the contrary it would appear a near certainty he’s fallen out with Manuel Pellegrini after his Champions League snub last season so you can’t see much way back for him.

If we could do this by recouping £16m of the £22m we paid for him that wouldn’t be a bad move.

A fully fit Jovetic will do a job anywhere but with those fitness concerns remaining that could be the main issue holding him back and with his chances set to limit even more with the business we look to conduct this summer moving on wouldn’t be the worse thing for all concerned, if this can form part of the Sterling move so be it!

Edin Dzeko, another that’s played down an exit this summer, is still being strongly linked with Roma but they’ve now said they fear any move could see the ‘finances involved scupper a deal’ as not only are his wages high it’s been claimed he’ll be looking for a £3m pay off from us before he even contemplates going anywhere….
