Kevin Friend

Based in Leicester and a self-confessed Foxes fan the 45-year-old referee has been applying his trade in England’s top flight since 2009.

In 2016 Friend was controversially prevented from officiating the game between Stoke City and Tottenham due to being a supporter of Leicester City who, at the time were pushing towards their first Premier League title.

Season 2016/17

Out of a total of 13 games Mr Friend has shown a total of 58 yellows and no red cards.

His last game in charge of a City game was on Saturday 5 November (City 1-1 Middlesbrough). On that occasion he showed Aguero a yellow while Boro got three (Clayton, de Roon and Forshaw). The red card was kept firmly in his pocket.
