We’ll see change at the Etihad Stadium this summer, be that managerial and/or player. It’s quite possible, if not probable, that Aleksandar Kolarov could be among those that does move on?

Reports at the weekend had said that he was one of several that would allow to leave this summer (Click Here) to raise some funds for a summer of rebuilding, as well as cutting the wage bill in the process.

He’s ‘started speculation’ by telling Sky Italia, quotes covered by Sky Sports, that he’s open to a return to Serie A and has sounded out Sampdoria, managed by compatriot Sinisa Mihajlovic, and former club Lazio as possible destinations.

‘I’d like to return to Italy, but it’s difficult.

‘I’m happy for Mihajlovic; he’s doing very well, as are Lazio.

‘They’re having a great season and I hope they can end it in third or even second place.’

The ‘it’s difficult’ reference that he refers to is probably the fact that he only signed a new long-term contract with us last summer that takes him through until the summer of 2017! Not to mention that his wages will be something that either club would struggle to match.

One of the first names on the teamsheet last season, and impressive performances too that saw the new deal signed, he’s been limited to just 11 starts in the Premier League this season with Gael Clichy sharing first-team duties with him, but more often being the preferred option.

He went onto talk about last season and how he had ‘proved to people in the club that they can believe in him’ and was happy to sign that contract offered, maybe he’s not so happy that he did now?

Things change quickly in football so we’ll see what the summer brings….
