Manchester City have tonight announced that Aleksandar Kolarov has today penned a three year contract extension at the club, and he is now contracted to us until the summer of 2018.

The Serbian joined us back in July 2010 from Lazio and has gone on to make 99 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring 15 times.

The 28 year old has also lifted two Premier League titles during his time with us, and was a key member of Manuel Pellegrini’s squad last term, making 24 league showings.

Speaking to the Official Site as his new deal was announced, he said.

‘I am very happy and very proud of this new contract. I will give to this club probably the best stages of my football career and I am very happy that I continue with this club which feels now like my home.’

He adds that last season he felt he played a good number of games for us, and proved to people at the club that he could be believed in and relied upon and the result of that was obviously the club putting on the table a deal that showed they wanted him to stay, so he was more than happy to sign.

The aim now, to continue with our domestic success, but improve our showings in European competition, because he believes the club is still capable of so much more in the coming years.
