It’s being reported that skipper Vincent Kompany was dropped from the squad following an argument with Fernandinho at half time in the game against Liverpool.

The source for this across the media seems to be the Daily Mirror, so make of that what you will and reports don’t even bother to quote a ‘club insider’ they just reference them, saying that the fear was the argument would come to blows as Kompany wouldn’t calm down after being criticised for their opener – despite manager Manuel Pellegrini interrupting the two players.

They speculate further that Pellegrini was on the side of Fernandinho in his comments, because they weren’t meant as criticism per se it was simple comments of a constructive nature – and that according to them incensed our skipper further.

As said this seems to stem from a club insider that the Daily Mirror quote, but given they say Pellegrini sided with Fernandinho – for the Leicester game Kompany was on the bench and Fernandinho wasn’t in the squad at all – that’s doesn’t quite seem to tally at least on that score.

It must be said looking around the coverage today as this gets picked on it seems regardless of the outlet it’s a copy and paste job from a regular newswire so it isn’t even gaining that much traction at this stage in terms of papers picking up genuinely on it.
