Leader of men Vincent Kompany continues to marshall the Blue cause both on and off the pitch…

The classy Belgian defensive midfielder turned central defender now has 81 City appearances under his belt inside just over two years since signing from Hamburg. What a steal he looks at £6 million. Alongside Nigel De Jong, arguably Leslie Hughes’ finest piece of Sky Blue transfer business.

He continues to take the MCFC fight to the masses, preferring not to focus upon himself and the tidal wave of praise he is attracting across football. He told th’official site today:

‘I am progressing – that is all it is. I think I have performed ever since I have been at City…I always think you can only be as good as your last game, so I have to do equally as well in my next match, or even better if possible. That is the attitude I have. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. The team is getting better, and I am getting older and have more experience. I am willing to learn.’

It’s often easy to forget only turned 24 years old last April:

‘I started earning my medals three years ago – I started performing three years ago, and I am still working. The hard work is what is showing now.’

Meanwhile, as City moved into second position, Vinnie had this to say via The MUEN about the rags who we are all gunning for again this season and are currently ahead of on points for the first time in two decades:

‘It’s not about United, it’s about ourselves…as long as we try to remain in the position we are in now, and maybe one spot away from first place, everyone will be happy, regardless of where United are.’
