Manchester City £6million new signing Vincent Kompany was more then satisfied with his performance following City’s 3-0 demolition of West Ham on Sunday.

The ex Hamburg star only managed one training season with his new team mates prior to his Eastlands debut , nevertheless his move from midfield, then into defence following Micah Richards head injury didn’t even phase the 22-year-old.

“The manager knew he could count on me to play in different positions ? that is why he signed me,” he said after the game.

“I was pleased with how it went because I tried to play an intelligent game. I did not know most of the team’s names. I had to learn them while I was on the pitch. But it didn’t take me long to settle.”

“It would be great if every game was as comfortable as this one. I really enjoyed it. It was a lot of fun. But I know there will be harder games to come.”

“As long as we win the matches we should win ? and maybe surprise the Big Four a few times ? I think we can look forward to a very good season.”
