Frank Lampard arrived at City in the summer with some, myself included to be honest, thinking that perhaps his move into the MLS was the right one as he was passed his prime.

I think he’s proven that wrong!

Obviously his very best years are behind him but he continues to show that he’s ‘still got it’ and is a class act, with his presence at the club making a big impact on many including Pablo Zabaleta, who has spoken to the media about how impressed his is with the 36-year-old and the extent of his work ethic.

Having literally won everything in the game, and proven all he needs to, he could have settled down to the ‘easy life’ in America and treated his time with City, which we still don’t know when it’ll end yet, as a holiday camp but Zabaleta holds him as a shining example to all with him the first in and last to leave and still training like a teenager….

Zabaleta said: ‘For me what makes Frank Lampard special is how professional he is in training.

‘You see him at training: He is the first to arrive on the training ground and the last to go home.

‘He won everything with Chelsea, he’s a legend in football and he’s still playing like he’s 18 years old.’

Lampard’s impact was again felt in the win over Southampton on Sunday, he definitely had a goalscoring impact but the defender praised the all-round team effort in that three-one win at St Mary’s.

If we only keep Lampard until sometime in January, or the end of it, we’ll continue to benefit but as things stand if we can extend this spell further I don’t think too many, his parent club in America aside of course, would be objecting to this too much!
