Left Side Still A Worry for Pearce

City boss, Stuart Pearce is still on the look out for some last minute bargain signings before the transfer window closes on Thursday.

It’s been obvious for a while that our left side is a bit of an easy touch for our opponents and our lack of width and absence of wingers to service Samaras and Corradi gives the team an un-balanced look.

We’re currently being linked with Thomert who is a left sided player, but nobody seems to have mentioned that Pearce released both our left-sided midfielders at the end of the season, namely Kiki Musampa and Albert Riera.

Now I thought that Kiki was a little lightweight, but Riera looked quality to me and perhaps with hindsight we should have kept him.

We do have Sun Jihai of course, but with respect, he’s a journeyman utility player and not the answer to the left-sided problem. Neither in my opinion is Ishmael Miller, who looks like an out-and-out striker to me.

Vassell is the most likely candidate to do a decent job on the left, and he started out wide on Saturday against Arsenal. Granted, it wasn’t one of his better games, but he looked to be carrying an injury.

With only a few days to go, it’s going to be hard, if not impossible to find good players that are available; most will have been snapped up by now; let’s hope Psycho can pull something spectacular off !
