Whilst the embers from a pathetic season still glow brightly in the backdrop of our illustrious neighbours wallowing in yet more success, is it as bad as it seems.

Whilst I agree that the man at the helm is just not up to the job, I am confident that the foundations are as strong as they have been in modern times.

Do I need to remind you how strong the reserve teams & academy teams are & how well each team is doing in their respective divisions.

For & through the yo yo years, to a man, we would have snatched with open arms a fourteenth place finish & a an acceptable quarter final cup run as quick as you could say Man United, Kings of Europe.

The nucleus of the team is evident. Isakksonn, Onauoha, Richards, Ball, Barton (that`s for another day), Distin, Johnson, Sturriddge, Ireland & our best player by far & inspirational leader Richard Dunne, are good enough to grace most premiere teams. What we are missing is guidance, leadership & respect. A manager that has the nouse ability & knowledge to fill the holes with short term stop gaps. Journey man players. (remember the remarkable job Kendall was on the way to completing had he not resumed his marriage) Players that can be picked up for less than we have paid for??. Well you don`t need me to let you know who I am talking about!!! Players with a heart as big as their pay cheques!!

With the correct appointment, be it big Sam, Billy Davies or, someone from the lower leagues, such as Keith Hill from Rochdale, We would compete at a much higher level & achieve European competition year in year out. Competition that we should aspire to, be able to achieve & much more importantly, deserve.
