Season 2010/11 with see our noisy neighbours, Manchester United and their boss, Sir Alex Ferguson celebrate 24 seasons as gaffer at Old Trafford.
Many of you reading this will be surprised to see a Rag article on a dedicated Manchester City website, Actually, I agree and see no reason why I should spend / waste a second compiling something which with inevitable make many a heckle rise.
One of the reasons why I’ve decided to publish something which would be far better suited on Vital Manchester United is because deep down I’m kind of envious. Yes, envious of the old git.
Fondly known as Red Nose, the Scot has achieved nothing short of a miracle with the Stretford lot. In 1986 he galvanised a team in decline by using the fear-factor and infamous hairdryer treatment. In fact, the club were lying second from bottom of the old First Division with relegation a reality prior to his appointment. By the end of the season he had pushed them up to 11th. The club have never looked back – until now.
The way I see it
The aging Scotsman will never retire from football. Its too late, it’s in the 68-year-olds blood. I just hope is doesn’t follow in one of his heroes footsteps, Jock Stein, and leave a top level game in a wooden box.
Times are changing
In my opinion the demise of United will come when Fergie leaves the club. There isn’t anyone I can see who would / could follow in his footsteps. I appreciate he has more than likely got a couple more years left in him, and no doubt they’ll finish in this seasons Premier League top 4, but the end is on the horizon, i’m sure of it.
My message to the Rags is that you should enjoy the dying embers of success. The club is in its twilight years and then that will be it. On the other hand, Manchester City is a club on the verge of something very special and who knows; in 24-years time we Blues could be in a position whereby our trophy table is full to the rafters. But I know this. There is only one team in Manchester and that is Manchester City Football Club.
