1. How’s the form been since last year’s 2-2er in Newcastle? Do you feel in good hands with Joe Kinnear still at the controls?
Simple answers to those questions – shocking and no. We had a spate of good results in late November and early December, beating Pompey and Spurs back to back before playing Wigan at the JJB.

One big searing pit of resentment. The guy is a cynical barrow boy, seemingly intent on destroying the club. He’s refusing to spend and we’re completely cattled, having to resort to the likes of Lovenkrands and unknown out of contract Algerians to bolster the squad.
Naturally there could have been a way out of it but instead of discussing terms with likely investors, he was out on the piss in NY and Dubai.
3. What’s the mood amongst the Geordies towards Joey Barton going into the trip to Eastlands?
I like him but his time is numbered. Since Ashley felt ‘humiliated’ after having to stand down in his attempts to sack him after the jail term and is looking at every way possible to get some money back and get rid.
Barton has got passion sadly lacking in most of the non-entities wearing the shirt at the moment.
4. Do you think that City have been unfairly criticised over their attempted signing of Kaka?
Yes and no. The simple mantra is if you can afford it, buy it. City can and look like they will. However as City are outside the Sky inspired closed ship of ‘The Grand Slam Super Sunday Four’ everyone is looking for them to slip up, much like ourselves.
I don’t get City though – you bid for Kaka, sign a good player like Bridge who we’d love to have seen at Newcastle, but then sign shite like ‘Maradona in his own mind’ Bellamy for ridiculous sums and then splurge £18m on a player who has a £1.8m clause in his contract four months later.
Scattergun tactics like that are why the criticism comes. It would be better to sign five or six quality Diarra bracket £20m players (not Bellamy or De Jong) than a Kaka anyway.

6. ‘Six Plus Five:’ FIFA President Sepp Blatter is continuing his campaign to impose a maximum quota of five overseas players on every English team. Do you agree or disagree with his proposal?
Wholly. It’s a canny way for football to cope with the credit crunch by rearing better home grown talent.
7. What’s your prediction for Wednesday night?
Bellamy to score, City to win 2-0 and Newcastle to rest certain key players ahead of the much bigger derby game with Sunderland on Sunday.
