Man City and Ligue 1 trio commence talks over midfielder likened to N’Golo Kante – Report

|

According to an update from RMC Sport via Get French Football News, Man City and a trio of Ligue 1 clubs have commenced negotiations over the potential sale of Sky Blues midfielder Claudio Gomes – who is currently valued at around £315,ooo.

Gomes, who signed for City back in 2018 from Paris-Saint Germain, has made just four competitive appearances in total for the senior side according to Transfermarkt – spending this season out on loan at PSV Eindhoven and managing 21 outings for their Under-21 side.

Should Man City sell Gomes?

Yes, we have better stars coming through

No, he has a bright future

This has resulted in the player’s reported discontent at the Etihad, with RMC Sport now claiming that Gomes is ‘unhappy‘ with his lack of playing time and wants to make a move away.

Even though he is under contract with us until 2023, Gomes is not against the idea of signing permanently for a club over in Ligue 1 as a host of French top flight clubs flock to display their interest in the unsettled teenager.

Rennes, Lille and another unnamed team have reportedly commenced talks with City over Gomes, who has been likened to Chelsea ace N’Golo Kante in the past – ‘showing shades‘ of the two-time Premier League title winner.

Indeed, when coming up through PSG’s academy, Gomes was labelled ‘the finest‘ of his age group, but now the Sky Blues could be forced to let him go as he ponders a switch away from our Elite Development Squad.

The 19-year-old will apparently prioritise moves that are most likely to offer him considerable game time, but taking into account the trio of interested parties, Gomes is seemingly highly-rated enough.
