Manchester City are always on the hunt for hot prospects around the world and Pep Guardiola isn’t shy about giving youngsters an opportunity in the first-team, so it’s no surprise that the Sky Blues are ‘assessing’ whether to sign Southampton’s highly-rated wide-man Jimmy-Jay Morgan.

According to Sky Sports, Morgan told Southampton that he ‘wants to leave’ after turning down a professional contract, but City could have stiff competition for his signature with Arsenal and Leeds United showing an interest.

The 17-year-old has scored nine goals with five assists from 22 games for the U18s and has scored five goals with five assists from 13 games for the B team. He’s yet to make an appearance in the first-team but did make the matchday squad in the Premier League, FA Cup and EFL Cup.

Morgan has impressed on the international stage too, scoring three goals with three assists from eight games for England U16s and scoring six goals from eight games for the U17s. The promising winger regularly trains with Southampton’s first-team, so he’s knocking on the door of senior football.

Morgan wants out of the Saints, however, so there could be a battle for his signature in the coming months.
