Gavin Bazunu spent three years at Manchester City but wasn’t in a position to dethrone Ederson due to his young age, so he was sold to Southampton in June for £12.5m. City could earn themselves an extra £3m in performance-related add-ons too.

Despite letting Bazunu go without him making a first-team appearance, City rate the 20-year-old highly. Sam Lee of The Athletic recently noted they have a buyback clause attached while James Ducker of the Telegraph said a month ago that the Sky Blues will earn 20% of any transfer fee if Southampton sell him.
The Republic of Ireland international has represented his country on 10 occassions and doesn’t turn 21 until February, so Bazunu’s future looks bright. Southampton could end up losing the shot-stopper back to City in years to come, but they were willing to develop him as they believe he’ll be a great asset at St Mary’s.
But if he’s sold by the Saints to another club, City won’t be able to bring him back to the Etihad. Instead, they’ll get themselves a cut of the deal. So they’ll either re-sign Bazunu if he realises his potential or they’ll make more money.
