Man City could sell 18yo due to ‘communication breakdown’, Guardiola treatment blamed

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City could sell Jayden Braaf when the winter transfer window opens due to a ‘breakdown in communication’ and are expected to field offers from clubs in Germany and the Netherlands.

The 18-year-old could be loaned out for the remainder of the season, so long as a buying option is attached, but City reportedly prefer a permanent sale in January.

Braaf joined the Sky Blues on a free transfer from PSV Eindhoven in 2018 but has yet to make a first-team appearance. He scored three goals and made two assists in 15 game for the U18s, made two assists in five games for the U19s and scored 12 goals in 24 games for the U23s.

The Daily Mail note how Braaf wanted to be in City’s first-team by now, so he’s now considering his future as Pep Guardiola continues to overlook him. The 18-year-old signed a four-year deal in August 2019 but doesn’t look likely to see that out at the Etihad Stadium.

Despite being named Players’ Player of the Year for the U23s in July, Braaf has only played for the reserves this season while the likes of 17-year-old Liam Delap, 18-year-old Taylor Harwood-Bellis and 18-year-old Cole Palmer have been given opportunities at senior level.

Braaf’s asking price is around £8m, so it’s up to suitors to make an offer next month.
