Man City dealt blow as CL quartet eye £65m Silva successor – Report

|

According to a piece of news courtesy of Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness, Man City have been dealt some serious competition in their bid to sign potential David Silva heir Houssem Aouar – with rivals Liverpool, Real Madrid, Paris-Saint Germain and Juventus all emerging as interested parties.

Aouar, who started 23 Ligue 1 games before the season was cancelled due to recent events, has been tipped to succeed Silva in the past – with the club legend looking set to depart the Etihad after a memorable decade-long spell in the blue half of Manchester.

Should City sign Aouar as Silva's heir?

Yes, get it done

No, we have Foden for that

The Frenchman, still only 21-years-old, seemingly possesses bags of potential and has racked up some noteworthy stats over the 2019/2020 campaign.

According to WhoScored, Aouar has managed an 85.7% pass success rate in the league, a number that could potentially entice manager Pep Guardiola.

He has also completed 2.6 dribbles per game on average, more than any City player in the Premier League, whilst managing more shots on goal than Silva in that time as well.

These figures, among other factors, have prompted a quartet of Champions League giants to show their interest in the youngster – with Liverpool and Real particularly emerging as the ‘main antagonists‘.

Now, at least according to this report, the Sky Blues face heavy competition to land Aouar as we contemplate paying his £65 million fee.

Txiki Begiristain and co have been ‘tracking’ the prodigy for some time, who is currently seen as ‘one of the hottest talents in Europe’.

Possessing labels like this, it’s little wonder why we now face a plethora of teams in the race of his signature.
