Opening up in an exclusive interview with Globoesporte, one of Man City’s latest youth recruits Yan Couto has bared all over life after a ‘dream‘ move to the Etihad Stadium – going on to describe his joy at getting to meet Pep Guardiola and co.
Couto, who has been touted as a future prospect, opened up over life after he signed for the Sky Blues from Coritiba back in early March to the tune of €6 million (£5.2 million) – going on to claim that signing on the dotted line has been the ‘realisation of a dream’.
Will Couto be a future star?
Speaking to Globoesporte, Couto has claimed that he has already had a conversation with City boss Pep Guardiola and our South American contingent – with the likes of Ederson, Fernandinho and Gabriel Jesus meeting the youngster for coffee.
Sky Blues stalwart Fernandinho has been particularly welcoming of the youngster, meeting him for various dinners and presumably keeping a watchful eye over his progress on the international stage.
Couto has been turning heads for Brazil’s youth ranks, assisting two goals from the right-back position over five games at the Under-17s World Cup – even if he did get sent off in that time according to Transfermarkt.
The 17-year-old, who will arrive on a five-year-deal this summer once his time with Coritiba has been concluded, could be a star of the future if his past praise is anything to go by.
According to Goal, the teenager has drawn comparisons to Brazilian defensive star Dani Alves – bearing that in mind, Couto may well be one to keep your eye on.
