Man City eye “top-class” €40m-rated prodigy, CL giants also interested – Report

|

According to a recent report from Central Defense via Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid are currently considering a swoop for ‘top-class‘ Man City target Kristoffer Ajer – potentially giving the Sky Blues a battle to sign the 6ft 5 colossus from SPFL champions Celtic.

Ajer, who started 28 league games for the Hoops before Celtic were awarded their ninth title in a row following the season’s conclusion, is currently swaying the interest of many top clubs from both abroad and domestically in the Premier League.

Is Ajer the man to strengthen our backline?

Yes, absolute colossus

No, there are far better options

Indeed, a recent report from 90min suggested that City were just one of a huge host interested in snapping up the 22-year-old prodigy – with Everton, Leicester and Wolves all displaying their intrigue in the towering defender.

As well as this English quartet, the likes of Paris-Saint Germain, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan were apparently keeping tabs from abroad, but now another party has joined the race.

The Galacticos, at least according to Mundo Deportivo, are also eyeing the youngster as a potential replacement for club legend Sergio Ramos – whose contract expires in June 2021.

RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano is apparently the ‘favourite‘ to succeed Ramos, but now Real could be considering a second option in Ajer.

A past piece from Calciomercato hints that Celtic value their man at around €40 million (£35.9 million), with the Sky Blues now facing lots of competition to acquire his signature as Pep Guardiola scours the market for defensive reinforcements.

Whether or not we do sign the Norwegian remains to be seen, but if City want their man, they may have to fend off some of Europe’s biggest clubs for his signature.
