Blues fan Andrew Dempsey contacted Vital Manchester City asking if we could bring the following acts of heroism to the attention of as many City supporters as possible.

The story centres on Marine Sergeant Noel Connolly, from Fallowfield in Manchester and his truly heroic actions whilst serving a tour of duty in Afghanistan.

A true hero

Noel, 41 is alleged to have rugby tackled a suicide bomber and in doing so saved dozens of colleagues when he threw himself at the Taliban fanatic as he approached an army base in Afghanistan pushing a motorcycle.

The full story can be found here.

City v WBA

The City of Manchester City Stadium match day announcer is expected to formally introduce Sgt Dempsey prior to Sunday’s kick-off against WBA. If you are in the stadium please show your appreciation.
