Man City linked with £1.8m move for 18 y/o, player could be loaned to Italy after signing

Manchester City don’t appear to be strengthening their first-team in the winter transfer window, but their transfer activity suggests they’re still planning for the future.

The Sky Blues are closing in on a move for Maximo Perrone and could be signing right-winger Renato Huerta from Universidad de Chile, according to Red Gol (h/t Sport Witness).

The highly-rated 18-year-old has risen through the youth ranks to the fringes of UdC’s first-team and has impressed manager Mauricio Pellegrino. Red Gol say he might be given his senior debut very soon as reward for his hard work.

City aren’t hanging about, however, and want to procure his signature. They’re reportedly willing to pay €2m (£1.8m) for Huerta and will loan him out to City Football Group side Palermo if he makes the switch.

Not only do City have the financial resources to meet any demand from UdC, they also have a manager who bloods through hot prospects, so Huerta will surely be open to making the switch.

Pep Guardiola has given 1198 minutes of playing time to his U21 players across the board this season and has made 18-year-old Rico Lewis a regular starter of late, so there is a pathway to the first-team for youngsters.
