Man City linked with £34.9m move for Swiss centre-forward with 10 goals in 14 starts

Pep Guardiola isn’t wanting in attack with Erling Haaland boasting 23 goals from 18 games while Julian Alvarez has seven goals from eight starts in all competitions, but Manchester City are reportedly showing an interest in another centre-forward.

Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports says the Premier League defending champions are interested in Noah Okafor, though Liverpool and AC Milan have also entered the race for his signature. Mid-season transfers are often hard to get over the line, but Plettenberg says a January deal is possible for £34.9m.

The 22-year-old joined RB Salzburg from FC Basel in 2020 and has gone on to make 100 appearances in all competitions, scoring 34 goals with 20 assists. Okafor has been in fantastic form this season, scoring 10 goals with two assists from 14 starts across the board, which is why clubs are taking notice.

But it remains to be seen whether City would actually make a move for another centre-forward. Guardiola has already said there won’t be new signings in January and Okafor wouldn’t walk into the starting eleven with Haaland and Alvarez for company, so the signing wouldn’t make sense.
