Man City lock eyes on £6m bargain forward once praised by Griezmann – Report

|

According to a report from the Guardian, the Sky Blues are monitoring the progress of young Ajax striker Sontje Hansen as Pep Guardiola potentially eyes up future recruits who can replicate club legend Sergio Aguero.

Hansen, who already has an impressive CV at just 17-years-old, winning the Golden Boot at last year’s Under-17’s World Cup in Brazil, could be seen as an exciting prospect due to his already noteworthy achievements at junior level – with his current valuation sitting at a bargain £6 million.

The U17s World Cup appears to be the showcase of Hansen’s talent, with the Dutch attacker laying down his marker in the competition and scoring six times in seven games – guiding his home country to a place in the semi-finals.

Ajax’s promising young talent has only managed to make substitute appearances for the first team, however, where he played 11 minutes and had a crack at goal during his brief Eredivisie cameo according to WhoScored.

Hansen’s performances at the World Cup, combined with a playing style that would ‘fit Guardiola’s mould’, has seemingly motivated the Citizens to keep tabs on his progress in the Netherlands.

Should City sign Hansen for £6 million?

Yes

No

As club legend Aguero reaches his twilight years, having scored 254 goals in 368 appearances, now could be the time for Guardiola to start looking to the future beyond back-up striker Gabriel Jesus – even if the Brazilian has played well in flashes this campaign.

If City are looking at promising youngsters, then where better to turn than Hansen, who has also received words of praise from France international star Antoine Griezmann as per this report.

Indeed, judging by his already impressive credentials, City could have one exciting teenager on their hands.
