Man City must pay £65m for centre-back with 15 clean sheets from 32 appearances

Nathan Ake could be on his way out of Manchester City this summer, leaving Pep Guardiola with Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte and John Stones at centre-back. The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to Chelsea and will need to be replaced, so City have been scouring the transfer market for defenders.

Should Pep Guardiola sell Nathan Ake?

Yes

No

Mundo Deportivo say Jules Kounde is the latest name on their shortlist. The 23-year-old joined Sevilla on a five-year deal from Girondins Bordeaux in 2019 and has gone on to make 133 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine goals with three assists.

He won’t come cheap, however, with Fabrizio Romano saying days ago that Sevilla want £65m for the French international. Kounde is a talented defender who helped his club pick up 15 clean sheets from 32 La Liga appearances last season, so he would improve City’s squad.

But it remains to be seen whether he’s the player Guardiola wants to replace Ake with. Juventus’ Matthijs De Ligt is also on City’s radar, so it’s up in the air which centre-back the Premier League champions will end up with if Ake is sold.

Read Man City believe Guardiola is better off keeping the 27-year-old, but Chelsea seem keen to get a deal done.
