Sometimes it takes a brave person to step back and take a good look at their surroundings. Why I hear you ask? Well it’s easy to become blasé, especially when one is cocooned in creature comforts.

The point I’m trying to make is that we Citizens have quickly become accustomed to the big money signings, Robinho – £32.5m, Roque Santa Cruz – £25m and recent signing David Silva, who’s transfer from Valencia is rumoured to be anywhere between £24m – £30m. Oh, and the aforementioned players are just a tip of the money-go-round iceberg – I don’t think I need say anymore.

Yes, it’s an incredible feeling / journey knowing that your club is able to buy anyone they want and that money is no object, but just once in a while it’s worth just sitting back and listening to what others have to say.

The old saying, ‘sticks and stones’ remains in the school playground as far as I am concerned but hey, after all we’re all human. Do we care what others are saying about Manchester City Football Club? I leave that particular sentence hanging in the air.

The following ESPN America video clip discusses David Silva and yup, MCFC.
