Man City owners closing in on £114m deal, confirmation expected on Saturday

|

Manchester City owners City Football Group are closing in on a deal for Esporte Clube Bahia, according to Football Insider. The club members of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B outfit are expected to vote in favour of a takeover worth £114m on Saturday, so CFG will soon own their 13th club after the weekend.

CFG currently own Manchester City of England, New York City of the United States, Melbourne City of Australia, Yokohama F. Marinos of Japan, Montevideo City Torque of Uruguay, Girona FC of Spain, Sichuan Jiuniu of China, Mumbai City FC of India, Lommel SK of Belgium, Esperance Sportive Troyes Aube Champagne (ESTAC) of France, Palermo FC of Italy and Club Bolivar of Bolivia.

Football Insider say CFG’s deal to buy Bahia was being held up as the Brazilian club needed to complete in-house checks and balances. But stakeholders support the proposal, so a 90% stake is set to be bought when the final vote is made on Saturday – Bahia president Guilherme Bellintani will announce the move.

CFG are described as the world’s leading private owner and operator of football clubs, owned by Mansour bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. They’re majority owned by Newton Investment and Development LLC.
