Man City: Paycheque Or Passion?

Martyn Crompton sent Vital Manchester City the following.

After sitting in my seat for the past few years, trying my best to ignore the complaining that gets aimed at particular players, I have always wondered what us City fans actually have to complain about recently.

Not that long ago we were fighting relegation year after year. Finishing in a mediocre tenth. Mediocre in comparison to what we expect now.

As much as I used to hate those complainers, I have found myself recently becoming one of them. Not aimed at the team, not aimed at the manager, but aimed at one man in particular, Yaya Toure.

I know this article is going to come back and people will disagree with what I wrote but I can’t believe I am the only one thinking this.

Now don’t get me wrong – to play for the best team ever and win many things is some accomplishment but recently, it feels as though he is turning up just for the money. Pep Guardiola dropped him as soon as Sergio Busquets started to show promise and I think it is due to what I think we are starting to see from him.

All us City fans ask for are three things, Passion, commitment and if either of the two aren’t there then show what you bring to the team (Mario Balotelli for example). I just can’t see that Yaya Toure brings any of the three.

When the Kolo Toure drug test results came out, Yaya said, ‘I don’t think I can play without my brother.’ Well he managed it ok with Barcelona for so long without him!

I can sit here and go on and on about this but I am trying to not turn into a hater. I mean we have had some shocking players in the past and we have always tried to back them to the hilt. I just don’t see that happening for me with Toure.

If and when we start winning things, I don’t see a place in the strongest Manchester City eleven for him. Let him sit on the bench and watch players play for the shirt, players like Vincent Kompany, Micah Richards, Pablo Zabaleta, James Milner, Nigel De Jong, Carlos Tevez and the recently signed David Silva.

Out of all the signings, Toure was supposed to be the one who settles the most because of his size and stature, but my personal opinion is, he is the best paid player in the league and he decides to turn up, maybe make one run every 90 minutes and get a massive wage.

Please Roberto, take him out, play Milner there, or even Vieira until Milner is back, but with Toure in our team, I can only see our other players becoming leggy and tired having to play with what seems a man down.
