Ilkay Gundogan is an injury doubt ahead of Manchester City’s Premier League meeting with Arsenal. The Sky Blues travel to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon but may be without their most influential player of late as he’s struggling with a groin injury.

Pep Guardiola gave an update on Gundogan’s condition in Friday’s pre-match press conference, saying: “Gundo played just part of today’s session. We will see tomorrow how he feels.”  The 30-year-old missed Wednesday’s 3-1 win over Everton and will be a big loss if he isn’t back in time.

Gundogan has made 26 appearances in all competitions this season (Transfermarkt), scoring 13 goals with three assists. The German international has bagged 11 goals and made two assists in his last 12 Premier League games, so City may suffer in his absence.

Guardiola will at least has Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne available for the Arsenal clash, so he’s blessed with a lot of creative options if  Gundogan doesn’t pass a late fitness test. The City boss could make a late decision, however.

Victory for the Sky Blues could see them go 13 points clear atop of the Premier League (WhoScored) should Manchester United lose to Newcastle United and Leicester lose to Aston Villa. City are coming off the back of 12 consecutive league wins and face an Arsenal side with only one win in four.
