Manchester City thrashed Sevilla 4-0 in Tuesday’s Champions League clash and Joao Cancelo was one of many players who impressed. The 28-year-old has spent the season at left-back but was finally deployed in his preferred right-back at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium and seemed to thrive.
Cancelo was a threat in attack and did his defensive duties diligent too. Alex Telles was his opposite number and failed to make a dribble, have a shot or create a chance before being hooked in the second half. And going forward, the Portuguese international made more assists than any player.

His first assist saw him feed Phil Foden the ball in the box who worked an opening and fired into the bottom corner. His second assist was a brilliant low cross from the right flank that found Ruben Dias unmarked in the six-yard box.
Joe Bray of the Manchester Evening News gave Cancelo a player rating of 6/10 but said he put in a better performance at right-back than he had done on the left. Jamie Spencer of 90min gave the 28-year-old a player rating of 8/10 and said he was like an extra winger for City due to his constant attacking threat.
Against Sevilla, Cancelo played for 90 minutes, had 105 touches, completed 88.5% of his 78 passes, created two chances which ended up assists, had four shots with 25% hitting the target, whipped in three crosses with 33.33% finding a teammate, making two tackles, having one interception and making two clearances.
