Man City Player Ratings

City deserved their third Premier League defeat in succession. The team appeared to be short on tactics, their dreadful defending was agonising to watch, plus, it seemed as though the players had been sapped of energy from the off.

Goals from Lallana (34), Milner (41) and Firmino (57) made sure City remain fourth in the Premier League, level on points with Manchester United.

With only 11 league games remaining it appears City may have blown their chances of winning the league title. In fact, finishing in the top four could be in jeopardy unless the team return to winning ways.

Player Ratings

Joe Hart 5
Had a nightmare for Lallana’s goal, however, his save from Milner in the second half was class. Overall performance was nothing to write home about.

Gael Clichy 6
He was not allowed a moment’s rest by Milner, so he had no contribution to make to City’s attack. He did look purposeful on the ball but didn’t inspire.

Nicolas Otamendi 5
Made some awful decisions – nothing like his performance in the League Cup final at the weekend when he was on fire. He kept running out of position and didn’t look himself.

Vincent Kompany 6.5
He has to share the blame for a poor defensive display albeit you could see he was trying to inspire others around him. Vinny has had better days.

Pablo Zabaleta 7
City’s most solid defender – he also added some energy going forward in the first half. He never gave up.

David Silva 4
Probably his worst performance wearing a City shirt. He was muscled off the ball just about ever time – looked lethargic and disinterested.

Fernandinho 7
The only City player who looked crisp and up-for-it. Weird why he was subbed.

Fernando 5
Had one or two good moments but lacked fight and spirit.

Raheem Sterling 3
Given a rough time by Flanagan whenever he got a sniff of the ball and overall made no impact to the game. The home crowd didn’t help matters with their constant boo’s. He’ll have better days.

Jesus Navas 4.5
Huffed and puffed but made little impact. Shame, as he’s always shown he has the potential but didn’t show it tonight.

Sergio Aguero 4
Hardly touched the ball and when he did he wasn’t allowed the time to do anything with it. Few runs off the ball but nothing too exciting. Poor day at the office.

Wilfried Bony 2
(for Sterling half time). No impact whatsoever. What’s he doing at Manchester City Football Club?

Kelechi Iheanacho 5
(for Fernandinho 55). Had a couple of half decent touches but nothing else. Had fighting spirit, more than most compared to the others
(for Clichy 75). Did okay but wasn’t on long enough. Would have liked to have seen him come on at half time.
