Man City player ‘wants to leave’, Kylian Mbappe ‘pushing’ for him to join PSG

|

Bernardo Silva already had an uncertain future at Manchester City after publicly admitting he could depart in the coming months for an exciting new project, but his next destination was still up in the air.

Barcelona wanted to sign the 28-year-old and Benfica would love to bring Silva back to Portugal, but Alexis Bernard of Le10 Sport says Paris Saint-Germain players are ‘pushing’ for the midfielder to come to France.

Kylian Mbappe, an ex-AS Monaco teammate, and Luis Campos are reportedly keen for Silva to make the switch this summer, but his asking price will need to be met. City have Silva contracted until 2025, so they aren’t obligated to cash in early for cheap.

The Sky Blues can hold firm on their £70m asking price, telling suitors that a deal won’t get over the line unless they pay up, so that may rule out Benfica as their record purchase is less than £40m.

Barcelona aren’t blessed with unlimited transfer funds as they’re still in a lot of debt, so they might be against paying so much for the playmaker. PSG are posting losses themselves too, so they’re aren’t in good financial health.

Bernard’s report might be moot if Silva’s closest suitors don’t have the funds.
