Riyad Mahrez is being spoken out by some media outlets as they believe his future at Manchester City is uncertain after falling down the pecking order under Pep Guardiola, but it remains to be seen if that is genuinely the case.

The 30-year-old has been short of playing time this season, making the majority of his Premier League apppearances from the bench, but he’s not planning to leave City in January.

Newcastle are reportedly battling with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain to lure Mahrez away from the Etihad Stadium as he finds himself behind Phil Foden and Jack Grealish, but it’s highly unlikely there is any truth to the rumour.

Mahrez has made 157 appearances in all competitions since joining City from Leicester City in 2018, scoring 47 goals with 39 assists, but he’s started only two Premier League games. The Algerian international has been a regular in the Champions League and EFL Cup instead.

And while Mahrez may be disappointed with most of his league outings coming from the bench, he’s not likely to jump ship mid-season for a project at Newcastle. His value is €40m-€50m and wages are £120k-per-week too, so he won’t come cheap.

In other news, Barcelona may have to pay £102.7m and £2.4m-a-year wages to sign Man City player
