Man City rejected £17m bid for a player with 0 appearances in 2 years

Issa Kabore has an uncertain future this summer. The 21-year-old has three years remaining on his deal at Manchester City but isn’t likely to play under Pep Guardiola next season, so he’s expected to spend the 2022/23 campaign out on loan.

Kabore was at Troyes in 2021/22 and appears to have extended his stay for another year, but Fabrizio Romano said on Friday that Nottingham Forest lodged a £17m bid for the right-back that was turned down by the Premier League champions.

Kabore is highly-rated, but it’s a shock that he’s already worth more than £17m despite not making a single appearance for City since his 2020-move from KV Mechelen. It’s also a shock that the Sky Blues said no to the offer. The Burkina Faso international impressed at Troyes and was named Best Young Player at the African Cup of Nations, so his stock is sky-high.

But with Pep Guardiola having Joao Cancelo and Kyle Walker at his disposal, it’s hard to see Kabore getting minutes at the Etihad. Whether the situation changes in 12 months remains to be seen. The fact Forest believe he’s worth that much money suggest his future is bright.

Crippy! Come come. The lad is only ever worth what the buying club is willing to pay. He’s an international player, a player of the tournament, and highly regarded. Several clubs home and abroad appear interested hence the price.

Do not make the mistake of confusing a contract with the MCFCG with a contract with MCFC.

Anyhow good luck to the lad another City influencer out there and some 17 million plus coming in. Hurrah.
