Man City suffer another blow as 21 y/o agrees deal to join Juventus – report

|

Manchester City’s pursuit for Sergio Aguero’s replacement had them considering a move for Dusan Vlahovic, but Gianluca Di Marzio says the 21-year-old is set to join Juventus after a deal was agreed with Fiorentina.

Juve had reportedly agreed to pay €70m (£58.6m) after offering Vlahovic a four-year deal worth €7m-a-year (£5.8m-a-year/£111k-per-week), so City will have to turn their attentions elsewhere. The news comes after Theo Hernandez slipped through their fingers too.

As for Vlahovic, the Serbian international made 108 appearances in all competitions for Fiorentina since joining on a five-year deal from Partizan in 2018, scoring 49 goals with eight assists.

Vlahovic, who boasts seven goals in 14 games for the Serbian national team, has been outstanding at club level in the last 18 months – 21 goals from 37 Serie A games in 2020/21 and 17 goals from 21 Serie A games in 2021/22 – so it’s no surprise suitors have been battling for his signature.

City are closing in on a move for Julian Alvarez and are still leading the race to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, so they shouldn’t be too disappointed about Vlahovic.

Pep Guardiola’s men are top of the Premier League with a recognised striker too, so they’ve coped well in Aguero’s absence.
