Man City target “extraordinary” £40.5m-valued attacker, negotiations “underway” – Report

|

According to a report courtesy of Spanish news outlet Cadena SER, Man City and Valencia are currently in the middle of negotiations over star winger Ferran Torres – with the transfer operation ‘underway‘ as both clubs begin talks.

Torres, who has started 26 La Liga games for the club this season, impressing with 1.6 completed dribbles per 90 in that time according to WhoScored, could well be on his way to the Etihad – with Cadena SER learning that both City and Valencia are currently attempting to reach a transfer price which satisfies both parties.

Would Ferran Torres be able to replicate Leroy Sane?

Yes, probably become even better

No, Sane was something special

The ‘extraordinary‘ Spaniard has turned heads with his performances over 2019/2020 and has been one of the shining lights in an otherwise forgettable campaign for Los Murcelagos – evident by his wonderful assist for striker Kevin Gameiro during the club’s recent 1-0 victory at home to Espanyol.

Leroy Sane’s move to Bayern Munich has reportedly motivated director of football Txiki Begiristain to seek a replacement for the attacker, and Torres allegedly fits that description.

As City attempt to negotiate a fee, explained in this update, no price has been mentioned – but Transfermarkt currently value the 20-year-old ace at around £40.5 million.

Since we had our two-year Champions League ban overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport last Monday, the Sky Blues have been linked with a plethora of star names.

A recent report from the Daily Mail indicated that Torres was among the likes of Kalidou Koulbaly, Lautaro Martinez and David Alaba who could be targeted by manager Pep Guardiola to rebuild the squad.
