Football fans, especially Manchester City supporters cannot wait until 1 January 2009. Why I hear you ask? Erm, now let me see.

A new City era began in the summer of 2008 when ADUG bought the club from exiled ex Thai Prime Minister Taxin Shinawatra. New manager Mark Hughes inherited a squad and new players the likes of Jo and Pablo Zabaleta, however just moments away from the summer transfer window closing the club managed to pull off a coup by signing one of the best players in the world, Robinho.

Sparky has been in the hot seat for the best part of five months now. Plenty of time I hear you say, especially when it comes to choosing the players he wants to bring in.

With a transfer kitty reported to be in the region of at least £100million, surely we City fans can expect 2009 to bring in not a hangover, but a wealth of superstars.

Throughout the whole of January the world is going to be watching our beloved club. Please Mark Hughes, don’t let us down.
