Man City tipped to sign “exceptional” 24-goal attacker who Guardiola has “long admired” – Report

|

Writing in a transfer piece for the Athletic, reliable Man City correspondent Sam Lee has tipped the Sky Blues to potentially monitor Tottenham striker Harry Kane as a forward option if Pep Guardiola is given a £300 million transfer kitty to play with this summer.

The England international teammate of City men John Stones, Kyle Walker and Raheem Sterling – it’s no secret that Kane has been one of the more prolific Premier League forwards in recent seasons.

Having went out on loan to sides like Millwall, Leyton Orient, Leicester City and Norwich – Kane was then given the chance to impress at Spurs and grabbed that opportunity with both hands.

Should Man City sign Harry Kane?

100%, absolute no brainer

Avoid

Not looking back since, the 27-year-old has bagged 188 goals in 287 appearances for Tottenham – including 24 in all competitions this season.

Should City sign him?

According to Lee in the Athletic, Tottenham’s financial frustrations may hypothetically gift us a chance to snap up Kane, who could provide some much needed aerial threat as well as proficiency in front of goal.

City boss Pep Guardiola has also ‘long admired‘ the striker, telling you everything you need to know, but his valuation may be a little steep.

As per Transfermarkt, Kane could leave north London for as much as £108 million – however, City may be able to afford that stratospheric figure if Guardiola is indeed gifted a generous kitty.

What the pundits say…

Speaking to the Daily Mail, ex-Serie A striker Christian Vieri has waxed lyrical over Kane as an attacking talent, describing him as ‘exceptional’ and ‘not the classic English striker’.

“He (Kane) is an exceptional player,” explained the Italian.

“I would have played well with him as a partnership. Kane is not the classic English striker: physically he does not have many muscles like Lukaku but he has dribbling, running, precise and powerful shots.

“I like Kane very much because he has an unusual technique and quality, he is beautiful to look at.

“La Liga or Serie A will be excellent leagues for him if he decides to leave London and Tottenham. He has no problem playing well in very technical leagues.”

The final verdict…

While we haven’t been linked in the press for Kane that much when compared to our other alleged transfer targets, it’s hard to disagree with Lee’s consensus that the striker could be a sensational option for City.

As well as the likes of Joao Felix and Erling Haaland, there is no doubting a move for Kane would turn many heads.
