Man City ‘willing’ to pay £33.6m for £33k p/w Leicester man, club may ‘outbid’ them

Manchester City aren’t short of creative central midfielders with Phil Foden, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan at their disposal, but Fichajes say they’re on the hunt for another – Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans.

The 24-year-old has spent three years at the King Power Stadium and is out of contract in 2023, so his future in the East Midlands is uncertain. Tielemans has been a great servant for the Foxes and has impressed under Brendan Rodgers, so it’s no surprise he’s on a number of big clubs’ radar.

City are one of them and Fichajes say they’re ‘willing’ to pay €40m (£33.6m) for his signature. Real Madrid are also keen, however, and could ‘outbid’ the Sky Blues, so the Premier League leaders have a battle on their hands to win the race.

Tielemans has made 142 appearances in all competitions for Leicester, scoring 24 goals with 22 assists. The Belgian international, who has represented his country on 47 occassions, has had a hand in 10 goals from 34 games this season, creating 29 chances, making 19 successful dribbles and averaging a tackle (43) or interception (14) every 30 minutes from 21 Premier League outings.

The £33k-per-week midfielder isn’t close to putting pen to paper on an extension and had his asking price reduced, so a move could be on the cards. Whether it’s City, Real or another club remains to be seen, however.
