Bernardo Silva has been linked with a move away from Manchester City for two consecutive seasons, but he’s been convinced to stay by Pep Guardiola despite an interest in joining Barcelona.

The media can’t let it go, however, and continue putting out stories suggesting City are offering Silva to Barcelona. The last story said City wanted to swap the 27-year-old for Frenkie De Jong, but now the Sky Blues are reportedly after £67m to sign Lucas Paqueta from Olympique Lyonnais.

As per Alex McCarthy of the Mail Online, City have denied the story and claim they have no intention of selling Silva. The Portuguese international has been close to an exit in the past when his head was turned by Barcelona, but that’s not the case this summer.

Pep Guardiola made it unequivocably clear that Silva was an important player and would not be sold, so there’s little chance Barca land his signature for £67m. If City were looking to cash in, they’d request a lot more than than what has been quoted too.

The 27-year-old has scored 48 goals with 50 assists from 249 games in all competitions since joining City from AS Monaco in 2017. Silva has three years remaining on his deal too, so the Premier League defending champions aren’t in any rush to sell.
