Report: Man City will turn attention to £67m-rated 111-goal man if they fail to sign Harry Kane

|

Manchester City have wanted Harry Kane to replace Sergio Aguero for the longest time, but the Daily Mail say they’re making little progress in procuring his signature.

The 28-year-old wants to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer and believes he had a verbal agreement from Daniel Levy, but the Spurs chairman has no intention of selling Kane unless his lofty asking price is met.

City have offered a deal worth £125m but have been told to up their bid to £150m. It doesn’t appear they will meet Tottenham’s demands, however, so they could turn their attention to Erling Haaland instead.

The 21-year-old has scored 111 goals in 139 career appearances and is already regarded as one of the best centre-forwards in Europe, so he could be a better acquisition than Kane with more years of service ahead him. Haaland might be available for as little as £67m next year too.

Haaland joined Borussia Dortmund from RB Salzburg in January 2020 and has made a total of 62 appearances, scoring 62 goals with 18 assists. The Norwegian international has started the new season brightly too with five goals and three assists in three games, so City might be better off with him.

In other news, Man City may have to pay £25.6m and £900k-per-week wages for 674-goal forward
