Pep Guardiola has Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden to call upon in the playmaker role, but Manchester City are still showing an interest in Michael Olise – an attacking-midfielder who played in their academy as a youth.

City have been linked with the 19-year-old in the past without making an official bid and TEAMtalk say the Sky Blues are ‘back in the market’ and may battle Bayern Munich and Chelsea for his signature. Olise has impressed since rising through the youth ranks at Reading and looks to have a bright future.

The French U18 international has made 16 appearances with two goals for the U18s, 18 appearances with six goals and four assists for the U23s and 65 appearances with five goals and 12 assists for the first-team (Transfermarkt). This season, Olise has had more assists in the Championship (10) than Raheem Sterling (6), so he’d clearly bring creativity to the side.

The fact Bayern and Chelsea are weighing up a move for the £10m-rated Reading man speaks volumes about the progress he’s made this season. And Guardiola has given minutes to five teenagers this season (Transfermarkt), so there is a pathway for young players to get first-team football at City.
