Manchester City suffered another injury blow in Wednesday’s Champions League win over Olympique Marseille, with Eric Garcia picking up a leg problem that required him to be substituted inside of half an hour, say the Manchester Evening News.

The 30-year-old was replaced by John Stones and now faces a race to be fit in time for Manchester United on Saturday. Garcia’s injury didn’t appear to be related to a challenge, but he’ll have to be assessed by Man City’s medical staff. Ilkay Gundogan also came off midway through the game and will require scans on his ankle.
Garcia has made seven appearances in all competitions this season, amassing 498 minutes of playing time. The Spanish international hasn’t commanded a starting place under Pep Guardiola, as Aymeric Laporte and new-boy Ruben Dias have been preferred at the heart of the defence.
Nathan Ake and Stones are also breathing down Garcia’s neck to get more minutes, which may be why the latter opted against signing a new contract. His deal at the Etihad Stadium expires in 2021, so this may be his final campaign in Manchester.
