Report: Man City closing in on summer signing, player will cost £8.7m and join in 2022

Manchester City have been in talks over signing Kayky for the longest time and Fabrizio Romano of Sky Sports and the Guardian has finally revealed on Twitter that the 17-year-old will be coming to the Etihad Stadium in 2022.

Kayky is expected to sign a five-year deal with City and his club Fluminense will receive around €10m (£8.7m) plus add-ons and a percentage of any future sale. The Brazilian will join City’s youth team at the end of next season pending a work permit.

Romano noted that Kayky had interest from clubs in Spain, so City have done well to procure his signature and get a deal over the line long before he’ll be able to arrive at Manchester. And while the 17-year-old doesn’t have a lot of first-team experience, he’s still had a hand in three goals from seven games at senior level.

There are high hopes for Kayky and he will have some fellow Brazilians in the squad to help him settle in – Ederson, Fernandinho, Gabriel Jesus. City have a number of Portuguese speakers in Ruben Dias, Joao Cancelo and Bernardo Silva too, so Kayky won’t have much of a communication barrier.
