According to El Dia (h/t Sport Witness), Manchester City are closing in on Darío Sarmiento and are willing to pay €20m to procure his signature. The 17-year-old has broken into Estudiantes’ first-team this season and could be a confirmed next week, although El Dia say Sarmiento wont make the switch until 2021 as he cannot move clubs under the age of 18.

There is no deal agreed just yet, but talks discussions between City, Estudiantes and Sarmiento’s representatives are expected to be finalised in the coming days. The transfer will boost Estudiantes’ finances as they’ll bag 20% of his capital gain and can sell their percentage back to City if he’s not sold within a certain period of time.
Sarmiento has made 11 appearances in all competitions for the Argentine outfit, notching one assist. He’s racked up 136 minutes of playing time in the Superliga but has made a big impression. The 17-year-old, who boasts four goals in six games for Argentina U16s, has created three chances and made 14 successful dribbles.
Sarmiento’s minutes per dribble ratio (9.7 minutes) is better than Riyad Mahrez (42.4) and Raheem Sterling (42.7), so he might be a good asset to us in the future.
