Man City still interested in 6ft 1in man with more chances created than Raheem Sterling

According to Record (h/t Sport Witness), Manchester City are still interested in Darwin Nunez and are considering the 21-year-old to replace Sergio Aguero next summer. I think Nunez is a talented player and would improve our squad, but it remains to be seen if we’ll make a move in 2021.

Record haven’t provided an actual update on our alleged interest but instead say we still have the Uruguayan international on our radar. Pep Guardiola does believe Nunez could shoulder the scoring burden if Aguero leaves at the end of his contract in June, so the decision now rests on the club.

Nunez has made 11 appearances in all competitions since joining Benfica from Club in September, scoring five goals with six assists. In seven Liga NOS games, the 21-year-old has created 10 chances, made six successful dribbles and had 19 shots with more than 25% hitting the target. Nunez has made more chances than Raheem Sterling (9) this season, so he’ll provide some creativity in attack.

The 6ft 1in striker is believed to have a €40m (£35.8m) asking price so he won’t break the bank. But whether Benfica would sell such an important player to soon after signing him remains to be seen.
