Report: Man City ‘have decision to make’ on 18 y/o Pep Guardiola likes, clubs eye loan move

|

Manchester City are desperate for a new striker this summer after Sergio Aguero was released on a free transfer, but the Manchester Evening News don’t believe Liam Delap will be kept for the 2021/22 season as he’s unlikely to get a lot of opportunities.

Delap joined the Sky Blues from Derby in 2019 and has scored 11 goals with seven assists in 17 games for the U18s, made two appearances for the U19s, scored 27 goals with seven assists for the U23s and scored one goal in three games for the first-team.

The 18-year-old does have an admirer in Pep Guardiola who’s promoting him to the first-team, but MEN note that he has interest from a host of Championship clubs who could hand him more minutes on the pitch this coming campaign.

City ‘have a decision to make’ on Delap’s future, but the chances are that he’ll be given a temporary move to continue his development. The England youth international is currently behind Gabriel Jesus in the pecking order but wouldn’t be considered for a starting place in his stead.
