Report: Man City linked with ‘surprise move’ for Fulham’s £10m-rated player

|

Manchester City have Oleksandr Zinchenko and Benjamin Mendy at left-back, but the Daily Mail (h/t Mirror) say Pep Guardiola is looking at another defender in Antonee Robinson.

The 23-year-old joined Fulham from Wigan Athletic in 2020 and has gone on to make 32 appearances in all competitions. Robinson still has three years remaining on his contract at Craven Cottage, but his future is uncertain at Fulham’s relegation from the Premier League.

The Daily Mail say Wolverhampton Wanderers could challenge City to procure Robinson’s signature and will have to pay around £10m to get the ‘surprise move’ over the line.

If Robinson was really a target for the Sky Blues, that would mean an existing left-back could be sold. Zinchenko was a regular last season while Mendy found himself on the bench or out of the matchday squad, so his future might be up in the air.

The 26-year-old amassed less than 1000 minutes of Premier League football last season and continues to have injury woes while also struggling for consistency.

Robinson might eventually be an improvement on Mendy, but he’s still a Fulham player for the time being.
