Vital Manchester City new signing ‘ghanaianblue’ asks readers to donate their old and unwanted City kits in an attempt to kick start Manchester City Babies FC, a youth team based in Ghana.

ghanaianblue writes…

‘Manchester City Babies FC is a juvenile team formed in October 2007 by the Manchester City Centenary Association (CSA), Ghana Branch. The team consist of under 8, under 12, under 14 divisions and will soon add an under 17 division. The team is based in Tamale, the northern regional capital of Ghana.’

‘Our immediate plan is to enter the team into the northern regional National Colts League. It is also our hope to play in Ghana’s Premier Division sometime in the near future.’

‘We currently use a school field as our training pitch as well as playing our matches. The aim of the team is to make Manchester City popular in Ghana and also to nurture hidden talents of the children in our community.’

‘In Ghana, we have realised that many English Premier League soccer-loving fans support clubs the like of Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea simply because of extensive media coverage we get here. We aim to change that!’

‘I would love to make Manchester City FC as familiar to the children as those teams already mentioned. So in order to do so we at the CSA, Ghana branch have set up the ‘MCFC Babies’ team.’

The objective is, should the team start playing in the Colts League, and if possible, the National Premier Division, the name Manchester City FC would become familiar with every Ghanaian soccer-loving fan.

Although we have not yet entered into a league we hope to do so in the very near future. We have played a number of trial matches and I might say, the boys are talented.

In an attempt to move forward, anyone with unwanted old or unused City strips and wish to donate, please do so by forwarding your whatever you can spare to…
