Man City plan £88.8m bid for ‘exceptional’ 27yo with more goals than Sterling and Mahrez combined

According to Christian Falk of Sport Bild, Manchester City are planning a €100m (£88.75m) bid to sign Harry Kane next summer.

The 27-year-old has been outstanding for Tottenham Hotspur this season and was identified by Pep Guardiola as a replacement for Sergio Aguero whose contract is up at the end of the campaign.

It remains to be seen if City’s pursuit of Kane is successful, however, as Tottenham aren’t likely to let their academy graduate leave and three years before his deal at the Lilywhites expires.

Kane has been in fantastic form in 2020/21, scoring 16 goals and making 13 assists in 23 games across the board. He’s netted more Premier League goals this season (9) than Raheem Sterling (4) and Riyad Mahrez (4) combined, so it’s easy to see why Pep wants him. He has called Kane ‘exceptional’ in the past too.

Tottenham hold all the cards, however. Kane’s deal has three more years to run, so why would Spurs let him leave? The England international is worth more than £88.8m in today’s market too, so City might have to pay a lot more to stand a chance of landing his signature.
